4th May 2018 – The Tour de Yorkshire stage 2 (Barnsley to Ilkley) had a summit finish at the top of Hangingstone Road, known for the race as Cote de Cow and Calf. It was a glorious day. The women’s race finished at 12:30 (ish) with Megan Guarnier taking the stage win and the overal GC win (on her birthday no less!). Dani Rowe was 2nd overal in the GC after a fantastic ride the day before taking the stage win on stage 1.
The men’s race was hard fought and there was a large group at the front contesting the win after the Cote de Old Pool Bank split the peloton. The stage was won with a perfectly timed uphill sprint by Magnus Cort Neilsen overtaking Greg Van Avermaet. Eduard Prades was third.
The photos below are from the men’s race (I was working in the morning) 50m from the finish line at the top of the Cote de Cow and Calf.
